Kwik-ZIP® HDXT 43 spacers were installed to facilitate the slip-lining of a crossing as part of the South Street Gravity Sewer Project.
One advantage of the kwik-ZIP’s HDX and HDXT product, is that they are suitable for installation on and in corrugated pipe.
The products are adaptable and versatile, able to work both on corrugated carrier pipe which is being inserted into a smooth casing pipe as well as on a smooth carrier pipe that being installed into a corrugated casing pipe.
For corrugated pipes like the SewerMax® product used as the carrier pipe in this installation, the flat base of the HDXT and HDX runners bridge the pitch of the corrugations which allows the load to be transferred to the casing pipe via the full length of the runners during installation.
Additionally, if the casing enveloper is corrugated, the HDX and HDXT flat-wear pads bridge the pitch of the corrugations in the casing pipe allowing for smooth slip lining along the invert.
kwik-ZIP® spacers have no metal parts and are made from Kwik-ZIP’s engineered thermoplastic blend with high flexural strength, high temperature resistance, low co-efficient of friction, abrasion resistance and outstanding chemical resistance.
Integrated rubber grip pads under the collars of the spacers are designed to prevent slippage. kwik-ZIP® spacers also have a load sharing suspension system allowing heavy loads to be shared across multiple runners reducing point loading and increasing the overall load capacity of the spacer.
kwik-ZIP®’s large range of spacers caters for a wide range of ID / OD combinations as well as providing flexibility to deal with project alterations. The simple and efficient installation process does not require any special tools nor is there any requirement to pre-wrap the carrier pipe.
It is important to note that all kwik-ZIP® spacers are designed to meet the requirements of WSAA Product Spec # 324 (Casing Spacers) so are fully compliant.
