kwik-ZIP products are used on Under Road Cased Crossings, Under Rail Cased Crossings, and Slip Lining applications for spacing and insulating water, gas, sewer and other wastewater carrier pipes.  These include PVC Pipe, HDPE / Poly Pipe, Fibreglass Pipe, Clay Pipe, Steel Pipe, and Ductile Iron.

Intervals between spacers depend on the diameter and weight of the pipeline and whether it is to be grouted. Please contact kwik-ZIP for specific interval information.

The kwik-ZIP® system has also been applied to pipeline surface cradle stanchions or piles constructed from square or C section beams.

As with standard piles, such stanchions need to be grouted in place to stabilize and prevent corrosion. It is therefore necessary to ensure that the stanchion is centralized in the drilled hole prior to setting with grout. The unique flexibility of the collars on the kwik-ZIP® centralizer system allow it to be applied to such irregular profiles and square beams.

Soil Stabilization & Foundation

kwik-ZIP® products are used in the post tensioning, soil stabilization and foundation drilling industries on Rock Bolts, Anchors, Soil Nails, Double Corrosion Protection Sheathing (DCP), Piles and Micro Piles.  Inert centralizers or spacers protect the tendon, bolt or nail from corrosion and help maintain an even grout cover.

As with other kwik-ZIP® products, more centralizer segments are simply added to accommodate increases in diameter. This removes the need to carry different centralizer or spacer models for different diameters.

kwik-ZIP® centralizers are often used on Oil & Gas production wells when verticality and other conditions such as extreme depth & temperature do not require the use of an API 10D type bow spring steel centralizer.

The API 10D standard for bow spring steel centralizers is intended to apply to wells that are drilled with dog legs and have a relatively severe level of deviation (average of 30 degree from vertical). A high proportion of Oil & Gas wells do not fall into this category, and thus assuming other conditions and regulations permit, kwik-ZIP® products should be considered.

kwik-ZIP® products are routinely used for well completions on Coal Seam (Coal Bed) Methane Well Casing.

Kwik-ZIP HD Series Centralizers are very popular for fiberglass and GRP well casings in the Oil & Gas sectors. A standard API 10D centralizer will generally not fit these composite casings due to variations in diameter, whereas kwik-ZIP products are totally adjustable for diameter. Kwik-ZIP products also will not damage composite casing materials as steel centralizers can.

Another Oil & Gas application in which kwik-ZIP products are often used is in waterflood or produced water injection wells. These wells are used to dispose of saline water produced from oil & gas wells and to help maintain pressure in the reservoir In most cases the fluid being re-injected is highly corrosive and thus it is essential that inert centralizers are considered.

It is not possible to correctly grout a casing and maintain protection without the use of correctly designed inert centralizers at appropriate intervals to keep the casing from touching the borehole wall during grouting. Also inert centralizers should be used on all gravel packed screens to ensure centralization of the screen prior to gravel pack installation.

The casing annulus in all water wells and monitor wells should be cement grouted from the top of the production zone back to surface. The grout seal protects the casing from corrosion, and both the well itself and aquifers through which it is drilled, from surface and sub-surface sources of contamination.

Correct cement grouting has also been shown to dramatically reduce vertical leakage via the annulus to the production / intake zone of heavy metals such as Arsenic. Studies in the USA have indicated that a correctly grouted casing can reduce recorded Arsenic levels in the water produced from a well. National Ground Water Association, Water Well Journal, p.30, June 2006. kwik-ZIP Centralizers are ideal for this application for both domestic household wells and deep large diameter commercial wells.
