Project: Claremont Rail – Cased Crossing Claremont, Western Australia
Carrier Size: 180mm PE Water Main
Casing Size: RCP 500mm (ID)
Spacer Model: HDXT-153 (153mm high)
Kwik-ZIP® HDXT-153 spacers were installed to facilitate
the slip-lining of a 180mm PE Water Main into an RCP casing for a cased crossing as part of the Claremont Rail Project by GM Microtunnelling.
As a result of the large annulus and the requirement to ensure the stability of the water main to ensure no movement, HDXT-153 (153mm runner height) spacers were utilised.
As the pipe were not being grouted after installation the spacers also need to support the weight of the pipe and water for the life of the installation, as well as allow for the removal of the pipe in the event of an upgrade to the carrier pipe size.
kwik-ZIP’s large range of spacers caters for a wide range of ID / OD combinations and even with the existence of a large annulus on this project, it highlights the ability for kwik-ZIP to provide an off the shelf solution irrespective of the requirements because of their wide range of products and options.
The simple and efficient installation process does not require any special tools.
kwik-ZIP® spacers have no metal parts and are made from Kwik-ZIP’s engineered thermoplastic blend that is flexible, extremely tough and has a low co-efficient of friction.
“Kwik-ZIP spacers are simple and quick to install and assist with the sliplining process whilst ensuring protection of the carrier pipe”. Gary Miller, Managing Director – GM Microtunnelling.
