Project: Nancarrow Avenue, Meadowbank bundled conduit project
Client: Diona for Ausgrid
Carrier Size: 4 x 180mm PVC Conduits
Casing Size: 700mm Open Bore
Spacer Model: HDX 65
Kwik-ZIP provided HDX65 casing spacers for a bundled conduit installation being carried out by Diona Civil Engineering for Ausgrid.
The project required a 120m long PVC conduit bundle (4x 180mm PVC conduits) to be installed inside a 700mm open bore located in Meadowbank, NSW.
A custom-built HDPE Pipe Separator was used to position each conduit with the required 70mm separation.
The kwik-ZIP model HDX 65 spacers were installed at 2m intervals to prevent sagging prior to grouting.
Kwik-ZIP’s unique design enables the HDX spacers to adapt to any shape and provide an all-round clearance and protection for the pipe bundle regardless of size.
Kwik-ZIP’s spacers have no metal parts and are made from Acetal POM – a high-grade thermoplastic that is flexible, extremely tough and has a low coefficient of friction. These properties enable contractors to provide a quick and easy installation whilst protecting their client’s underground assets.
Kwik-ZIP HDX Spacers are approved by WSAA as meeting their Product Specification PS-324 Casing Spacers.
“Diona utilised the Kwik-ZIP HDX 65 Spacers on a 120m long bundle of 4 X 180mm PE conduits, installed in a 700mm open bore. This was required to relocate Ausgrid’s HV electrical assets as part of Shepherds Bay Stormwater Trunk Drainage development at Meadowbank, NSW.
Kwik-ZIP’s spacers complied with Ausgrid’s strict requirement for spacing materials within an HDD bore and the HDX 65 was adequate for this peculiar pipe bundling system. Their ease and speed of installation over the length of the bore reduced the overall complexity of bundling the conduits.
I was particularly impressed with Kwik-ZIP’s professional and timely delivery; the team at Kwik-ZIP were cordial and supportive as their understanding of our requirement saved the project time.” – Matthew Akinsanya: Site Engineer, Diona
