The Rising Stars Awards recognise and celebrate WA-based companies that have experienced significant recent growth, but have key strategic plans and organisational capability in place to build and grow into the future.
The Micro Businesses Award, a new category for 2017, is given to a company with less than five full time equivalent staff, and that have been trading for at least the last three financial years.
With only four full time employees, kwik-ZIP Spacers was recognised because of its proven ability to carve out a niche market not only in Australia, but globally.
As the only Australian manufacturer of high-quality spacers and centralisers for drilling and pipeline applications, kwik-ZIP Spacers has been able to identify new business opportunities not only in Australia but also overseas in the UK, US, Europe and the Middle East.
Manufactured from high grade thermoplastic, kwik-ZIP products are used and recommended by pipeline and civil contractors, water and gas utilities, drilling companies, as well as international engineering firms. They are also the only Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) approved spacers for use in the water industry.
The company’s international presence demonstrates kwik-ZIP’s ability to not only manufacture a quality product, but its ability to innovate within its niche market. The company’s Managing Director, Jason Linaker, is constantly searching for new applications for the technology.
“Market sector diversification is the key to our successful growth,“ Mr Linaker said.
“We will continue to look for opportunities to apply the products to a range of applications in other business sectors, and around the world.”
Mr Linaker said the small team at kwik-ZIP Spacers has its sights set on expanding its presence internationally by building on its existing footprint of sales and distributor networks.
