Kwik-ZIP provided casing spacers to Denso Australia for utilisation as a component of their SeaShield™ 400/500 system.
The SeaShield™ system is an encapsulation system that consists of a Fibreform Jacket, C-Grid® 450 reinforcing, Denso 510 UW cementitious grout and Denso 550 Epoxy Grout.
These systems are used to protect
- Timber piles from aggressive saltwater environments / marine borers.
- The rehabilitation of deteriorated or spalling concrete columns / piles.
- The long term corrosion protection of steel piles, particularly in the splash zone area.
The Denso Seashield™ systems are well known throughout industry for extending the lifetime of hundreds of infrastructure assets throughout Australia.
Kwik-ZIP’s 155 HT-E series is utilised to ensure that the SeaShield jacket is held a specific distance off the pile during installation, to ensure a uniform thickness of grout is injected around the pile.
The project, completed for SA Water involved initially cleaning of the original column. Then the kwik-ZIP 155 HT-E were used to give the correct distance of spacing for the Denso Carbon Fibre reinforcing mesh (C-Grid® – 450), and the placement of a Seashield™ outer jacket that would hold or encase the epoxy and cementitious grout.
The kwik-ZIP model 155 HT-E were selected based on the stand-off required, their simple and efficient installation process and the fact they can be applied to different pile shapes and diameters.
